Biography

I was born on August 16th, 1989, in Dallas, Texas, and lived there until the age of 4, when I moved with my family to Anchorage, Alaska (which is where I did the rest of my growing up).  I was always an artist and a ponderer at heart, and from a very early age, I spent most of my days developing my philosophical voice (largely in rebellion against all of the religious nonsense with which I was bombarded).  I also spent a lot of time fine-tuning my artist voice (through acting, writing, whistling, and singing), which allowed me to further broaden my horizons.

At the age of 3, I began a multi-year journey through figure skating as well, which added another level to my understanding and perspective. I was able to master a long series of complex jumps and spins over 11 years, ultimately competing in the Junior Nationals in 2002, where I won first place in the spin competition with my Flying Camel.

Another avenue of creative expression I have mastered is the art of whistling. My grandfather, himself a professional musician who played the oboe, English horn, violin, cello, drums, trumpet, trombone, clarinet, flute, harpsichord, piano, bass trombone, baritone saxophone, harmonica, and piccolo, first taught me how to whistle.  I then continued to hone my own sound by listening to classical music, and emulating all the different wind instruments.  I now have a rich and unique timbre to my whistle which is modeled after the pan flute, and a range greater than two octaves that can travel much lower than that of the vast majority of whistlers.  I have begun using it to compose recently, having just done the score to my thesis film, 'Pious Cinch'.  Whistling is also something that I greatly wish to do professionally.

While I was growing up, I participated in school plays and in the Alaska Theater of Youth, which lured me more significantly into dramatic acting, something I've since pursued formally, and continue to do to this day. I was privileged to study at the Berkshire Theater Festival in the summer of 2010, where I was one of five apprentices to be in the Main Stage production of Macbeth. And I am currently completing my BFA at the New York Film Academy in Los Angeles, and expect graduation in August of 2014.

'Pious Cinch', which I wrote, produced, directed, and starred in myself (in concert with the most amazing crew with which I've ever worked), will have its first screening at Warner Brothers Studios on August 8th, 2014.

Performing, acting, voice over, vocals, poetic composition, recording, professional whistling, figure skating.
